Aside from football, there is a perpetual rivalry between Barcelona and Madrid that can be healthy in many ways. There is no doubt that attracting international talent is crucial for any city in order to succed, and I do second the point in the article that states that the lingua franca in the Madrid start-up scene is Spanish; in Barcelona, it’s English. Fair to say also that Madrid has done a great job attracting a lot of latin american talent whilst Barcelona´s charm has always worked very well in attracting people from Europe and the USA. The existing research centres or business schools of a high standard are crucial to attract healthcare investment to the Catalan metropolis whilst Madrid has the advantage of being the financial capital, with a higher concentration of venture capital groups, and is home to many of Spain’s largest companies and banks. Which one would you move to?

Conclusion: Asia Berlin Summit 2023 – An inspiring week is over! With some spectacular satellite events, this year's Asia Berlin Summit ended after a packed week. Reviewing from the standpoint of intercultural cooperation, it was not only a leading event but primarily a perfect opportunity for all participants to meet and talk in person face to face. Mingle with one another, exchange great ideas, and design new concepts inspired by fantastic panel discussions. Interesting to see how important the politicians took this summit as both the Governing Major of Berlin, Mr. Kai Wegner, and Senator Franziska Giffey (Econonomics and more) gave very engaged speeches. The Berlin City Hall was a spectacular venue. As Kai Wegner indicated in his speech, the most valuable agenda points were the breaks: Everybody took the opportunity to learn what others are doing, where are threads and needs of Asian entrepreneurs in Germany are, and how we can support them. My main takeaways: ➡ Berlin is one of the most exciting and magnetic cities worldwide for (not only) Asian startups. ➡ The openness of the city and the multinational society makes it easy for newbies to settle here. ➡ Set up a business in Germany seems more difficult due to several regulations compared to other countries.
